Stunning self-styled wedding, Ratho Farm

A wedding is that special day marking the beginning of a new chapter in a couple's life. It’s a day jam-packed with love, laughter, and wholesome good-vibes. For those looking for a country-style and unique wedding experience, a Ratho Farm wedding in Tasmania is a great choice. With its picturesque location and charming atmosphere, it’s no wonder Ratho Farm has become a favourite destination for couples looking to tie the knot.

The Venue

The glass house, Ratho Farm.

Located in the heart of Tasmania, Ratho Farm is a historic property that dates back to the 1820s. The property boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside and is home to a beautiful homestead, barn, and gardens. The rustic charm of the venue provides the perfect backdrop for a country wedding. Couples can choose to have their ceremony in the gardens, surrounded by blooming flowers and lush greenery, or in the barn, with its exposed beams…..(just quietly, how good are exposed beams), or in the gorgeous light filled Atrium.

The Accommodation

One of the unique aspects of a Ratho Farm wedding is the option for guests to stay on the property. The homestead and cottages on the property can accommodate up to 50 guests, making it the perfect choice for a destination wedding. The accommodation options are hella cozy and charming, with a tasty blend of modern amenities and old-world charm. Pre + post wedding your guests can get stuck into some golf, trout fishing + whiskey drinking, or combine all three in a triathlon of sorts.

The Food

Ratho farm know how good delicious food is at bringing people together. The property boasts its own catering abilities, which offers a variety of menu options for weddings. Couples can choose from the farm-style country meals, and I can confirm, the roast dinner is off tap! The food is made with fresh, local ingredients, and the menu can be customized to fit preferences. Local beer, wine & whiskey options are also available.

The History

Ratho Farm was established in 1822, making it one of the oldest properties in Tassie. It was originally a sheep farm and has been owned by the same family for six generations. The property has been lovingly maintained and still retains elements of its original charm and character. Nearby town Bothwell is rife with local history + old fellas keen for a yarn.

Ahead are a collection of images from Paul & Rebekah’s Ratho Farm wedding. One of my favourite parts about this wedding is how successfully Rebekah was able to style her own wedding. It’s no easy feat to be able hang with the pros when it comes to doing your own styling, but Bek nailed it!

I also love how clearly you can see the change of light in these images, photographers froth on softer evening light for obvious reasons, the highlights take on warmer tones and the image feels a little softer - in a good way.

Wishing Paul & Bek the happiest of married lives together <3.
