Northern Tasmania Wedding Photographer - Sending it in Derby

When couples talk about how they want their wedding to be one big party it’s day’s like Craig and Leela’s that instantly come to mind for me.

The Scope - “We just want epic photos of everyone having a killer time”
Location - Dorset Hotel, Derby.

Craig & Leela’s nearest, dearest, fam + friends from all over the world assembled like the avengers into the little old town of Derby, North East Tasmania. A town that holds a special place in their collective hearts given their active lifestyles + love of mountain biking.

Ceremony was a stunner under luscious foliage bathing everyone in soft dappled light. I loved the reading of a fav quote from ‘The Gruffalo’ which gave everyone a good giggle + super wholesome vibes.

Post ceremony, The Foley Artists wooed everyone with their wicked blend of Celtic, bluegrass, jazz + classics. This was my first time working with the lads and holy shit! They’re absolutely incredible. Like shivers down the spine dueling banjos incredible (Victims of their own success as everyone refused to let them leave at the end of the night).

As the local craft beers vanished the tasty tunes ramped up. Taking advantage of the gorgeous afternoon light, newly weds & I snuck off for a ridiculously fun lil couples shoot. I got wailed jumping an electric fence, Leela scaled multiple barbed wire fences in a wedding dress and Craig scaled a rock face that my goats would struggle on.
The fun far from over a couple of mountain bikers volunteered their steeds for what I feared might turn into a chain binding, dress shredding exercise. With Craigs words from earlier ringing in my ears “Don’t underestimate Leela, she’s the most incredible person I know” I watched and photographed in awe.

Arriving back to the party Leela shoved a cloudy pint into my twisted arm.

By now the Foley Artists had set up their decks and the wedding party’s crush on them was reaching teeny-bopper ~ Justin Bieber territory.
There was only one thing that could possibly surpass their musical prowess and that was a ‘Not another teen movie’ meets ‘Tokyo karaoke bar’ serenading of the guests & new wife by the groom.

Song choice - Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen.
Singing intensity - High.
Crowd response - Immense adoration.

Incredibly grateful that Craig & Leela chose a local photographer from the sticks to join them on such an epic day, all the best into the future <3.

Venue - Dorset Hotel.
Music - The Foley Artists.
Celebrant - Sonia Morganti (Tas Celebrancy).
Cake - Baked with love by Bec.
Bride & Groom attire - When Freddie met Lilly.
Photographer - Yours truly.
